I have lost my spark. I used to love what I do.

Steve Jobs in his commencement address to Stanford University graduates stated, "If you get up in the morning and don't love what you do, change it."

So maybe we are onto something here. What is stopping me from getting exactly what I want in my career? What is stopping me?

Awareness
Dear reader, ask yourself these questions until they are your Mantra, so to speak. What are my career ambitions? What challenges me? What am I afraid of? If I could do anything, what would it be? Am I afraid to take a risk? How could I add value? What does my community need? What is life asking me to do? Now turn off the TV, radio, cell phone, etc. and ask yourself these questions again.

Acceptance
I accept the fact that I am bored in my present job or have lost my spark because I am under-managing my career.

Action
Think strategically:
  • What is the product or service that would deliver value to the world?
  • Who can I talk to that would give me honest feedback on the idea?
  • How can I deliver this product or service locally and globally?
  • Am I technically proficient, and if not, am I willing to do the work?
  • Am I willing to give up my current job?
